The Mid-Atlantic Carpenters Training Centers – Washington District is building a new, state-of-the-art training center that will open in September 2010. As a jointly managed training program, the focus of this new facility is on training apprentices and journeymen to make our signatory contractors as competitive and productive as possible. And, this impressive facility will take your training program to the next level. But, a move like this requires considerable resources, so the MACTC is reaching out to its friends for support through donations of tools and equipment for direct use in training your apprentice and journeyman carpenters.
About the New Facility
The new school offers 40,000 square feet of training and office space, which is twice the size of the current 37 year old facility. The new site will contain six dedicated shops averaging 2,800 ft2 for our main instructional craft areas: concrete construction, general carpentry, trim and millwork, interior systems, pile driving, and trade show training. In addition there will be three classrooms, a flooring program shop, and a large 9,500 ft2 open bay for large project construction, scaffold erection, and aerial lift training. Of special note, the new school will also have a computer lab for teaching computer-based instruction on topics such as AutoCAD, Building Information Management, OSHA, and possible LEED training. Please come visit your new school.
Your Donations
The JSC is seeking your contributions of tools and equipment to help outfit this impressive facility. Included in this informational package is a master list of requested donations. The list is broken out by instructional craft area and General Need, and then prioritized within each category. There is also a Cash Donation category if you don’t want to specify your purchase. The school then will draw from this cash fund to purchase items from the list. This informational packet and the list are located on our website at www.jcacdc.org/donations . The web list will show what has been donated to date and what is still available and allow you to make your donation on-line. Please also consider this other important information:
